Ühendemiraadid, officially the United Arab Emirates or UAE, is a federation of seven emirates located in the northeastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. The emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The capital city is Abu Dhabi, which is also the largest emirate by land area. Dubai is the most populous and is a global hub for business and tourism.
The UAE was formed on December 2, 1971, following the withdrawal of the British from the area.
