UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country located in the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, along the Persian Gulf. It is a federation of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. The union was formed in 1971, with Ras Al Khaimah joining in 1972. Abu Dhabi is the capital and the seat of government, while Dubai is the largest city and a major commercial hub.

Geography and climate: the UAE lies on the Arabian Peninsula and borders Saudi Arabia and Oman, with a long Persian Gulf coastline. The terrain is largely desert, characterized by a hot arid climate and scarce freshwater resources.

Government: the UAE is a federal constitutional monarchy. The seven rulers form the Federal Supreme Council, which elects the president and vice president. The president traditionally comes from Abu Dhabi and the prime minister from Dubai. The federal government oversees defense, foreign policy, and federal courts; the Federal National Council is a largely consultative parliament with limited legislative powers.

Economy: the UAE has a diversified economy, historically dependent on oil and gas but expanding into trade, tourism, aviation, finance, real estate, and manufacturing. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are major global hubs, supported by extensive infrastructure, including world-class airports and ports.

Society: Arabic is the official language, and English is widely used in business and education. The country has a large expatriate community, and Islam is the dominant religion; other faith communities operate across designated places of worship. The government prioritizes modernization, education, healthcare, and social development to support its population and economy.
