Khaimah

Khaimah, also known as Ras Al Khaimah, is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It lies in the northern part of the country, bordered by Umm Al Quwain to the south, Oman to the east, and a coastline along the Persian Gulf. The emirate’s capital is Ras Al Khaimah City. It includes coastal plains and part of the Hajjar Mountains, with Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE, located within its territory.

History and administration: The area has evidence of ancient settlement and a long maritime heritage, including fishing and pearl diving. It joined the United Arab Emirates in 1971. Ras Al Khaimah is governed by its ruler within the federal framework of the UAE, and it maintains its own local authorities and development plans.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy is diversified, with tourism, manufacturing, and logistics as major sectors. The government supports free zones such as the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone to attract investment. Key infrastructure includes Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Ras Al Khaimah Port, along with road networks connecting to other emirates.

Demographics and culture: Arabic is the official language; English is widely used in business and education. The population comprises Emirati citizens and a sizable expatriate community. The emirate contains cultural and natural attractions, including historical forts, museums, beaches, and mountain scenery.
