Æthelfrith
Æthelfrith (c. 547–616), also spelled Æthelfrith or Aethelfrith, was a king of Bernicia who reigned from about 593 until his death in 616. He is remembered as a decisive early king who first united Bernicia and Deira into the kingdom of Northumbria and as a capable military leader who expanded his realm's frontiers.
