Återhämtningsveckor, often translated as recovery weeks or deload weeks, are planned periods of reduced training intensity and/or volume within a larger training program. The primary purpose of these weeks is to allow the body to recover from accumulated fatigue and adapt to the training stimuli it has received. This can lead to improved performance, reduced risk of injury, and prevention of overtraining syndrome.

During an återhämtningsvecka, athletes or individuals typically decrease the weight lifted, the number of repetitions or sets performed, or the overall duration of their training sessions.
