weinschorle
Weinschorle is a mixed beverage made from wine and carbonated water. It is a type of Schorle, a category of drinks in which a liquid base is diluted with sparkling water. The most common version uses white wine, but red wine variants exist as Rotwein-Schorle. Typical preparations mix wine with sparkling water in ratios such as 1:1 or 2:1, and the drink is served well chilled in a tall glass, often with ice. The carbonation and dilution yield a lighter, more refreshing beverage with a lower perceived alcohol content than plain wine.
The drink is especially popular in Germany, notably in the states of Baden, the Palatinate (Pfalz), Franconia,
Variants and cultural notes include Rotwein-Schorle, a red-wine version that is less common but widely available.
