This structure aims to provide affordable and stable housing with a degree of resident involvement.

Residents become members of the housing cooperative by purchasing a share, which grants them the right to live in a specific apartment. The monthly rent paid by residents covers the cooperative's operating costs, including mortgage payments for the building, maintenance, and other expenses. Profits, if any, are typically reinvested into the property or distributed as dividends to members, depending on the cooperative's bylaws.
