Viestimuotoisia is a Finnish experimental electronic music collective formed in 2012 in the city of Turku. The group originated from a collaborative experiment between university students studying music technology, sound art, and visual design. Their name, derived from the Finnish words for “message” (viesti) and “shaped” or “form” (muotoisia), reflects their interest in shaping digital communication into artistic expression.

Musically, Viestimuotoisia blends glitch, ambient, and IDM influences with field recordings of everyday urban life. Their soundscape is marked by intricate rhythmic patterns, sparse melodic motifs, and a pronounced use of evolving textures that often incorporate analog synthesizers alongside software-based arrangement. The collective favors collaborative improvisation over traditional songwriting structures, leading to album concepts that emphasize sonic architecture rather than lyrical narrative.

The group released its eponymous debut EP in 2013 on the independent label Reboot Records. It was followed by the full-length album "Noise Channels" in 2015, which garnered favorable reviews in niche electronic music magazines for its experimental approach. In 2018 they issued "Transitive Codex," a concept album exploring themes of data transmission and digital privacy. Their 2021 project "Signal Warps" was distributed as a digital-only release with a limited edition vinyl pressing that received praise for its innovative packaging.

Viestimuotoisia has performed at several Finland-based festivals, including the Arcen Chaos Festival and the ReVerb Electronic Music Festival. The collective is noted for its interdisciplinary performances that combine live music, motion graphics, and interactive installations, often commissioned by cultural institutions such as Turku Museum of Art.
