Vesments are traditional liturgical garments worn by clergy members during religious services. They serve both practical and symbolic purposes, representing purity, dedication, and the sanctity of the clerical office. Vesments vary widely across different Christian denominations, reflecting diverse liturgical traditions and cultural influences.

In the Roman Catholic Church, common vesments include the alb, a long white linen robe; the stole, a narrow band worn around the neck; and the chasuble, a sleeveless outer garment worn by the celebrant during the Eucharist. Other items may include the dalmatic and tunic, used in specific liturgical contexts. The colors of vesments often correspond to the liturgical calendar, such as purple for penitence, white for celebrations, or red for martyrs.

Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches also use distinctive vesments, including the phelonion (a cape-like outer garment), epitrachelion (a stole), and epimanikia (cuffs). These garments are typically ornate, adorned with embroidery, crosses, and other religious symbols, emphasizing the sacred nature of the vestments.

In Protestant traditions, vestments are generally simpler but serve similar purposes. Ministers or pastors may wear robes, stoles, or albs, depending on the specific denomination and local customs.
