verantwoordingsmatrix
A verantwoordingsmatrix, often translated as a responsibility assignment matrix or RACI chart, is a tool used in project management and organizational design to clarify roles and responsibilities for tasks or deliverables. It visually maps out who is responsible for what within a project or process. The acronym RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. Each of these roles has a distinct meaning. The Responsible party is the one who does the work to complete the task. The Accountable party is the one who ultimately owns the task or deliverable and has the authority to approve the work. There should only be one Accountable person per task. The Consulted party is someone who needs to be consulted before the work is done or a decision is made, providing input or feedback. Finally, the Informed party is someone who needs to be kept up-to-date on the progress or outcome of the task, but does not need to be consulted. By clearly defining these roles, a verantwoordingsmatrix helps to avoid confusion, prevent duplication of effort, and ensure that all necessary parties are aware of their involvement and expectations. This leads to improved communication, increased efficiency, and better project outcomes. It is typically presented in a table format with tasks or deliverables listed in rows and individuals or teams listed in columns, with the corresponding RACI code placed at their intersection.
