Vasbeton is a term used in civil engineering to describe a class of concrete designed for enhanced resistance to water and moisture. The word is encountered in some European technical literature, where vasbeton denotes concrete that is formulated to minimize permeability and to perform reliably in water-bearing or submerged environments. The concept is closely related to waterproof concrete and hydro-technical concrete.

Key characteristics of vasbeton include low porosity, high durability under wet conditions, and good long-term resistance to chloride ingress, freeze–thaw cycles, and chemical attack. Achieving these properties typically involves using low-permeability mixes, dense aggregates, and admixtures such as silica fume, fly ash, slag, or polymer additives. Some formulations may incorporate pore-filling or fiber-reinforcement systems to improve crack control and durability.

Common applications for vasbeton are hydraulic structures and water-retaining elements, including dam cores, spillways, reservoirs, aqueducts, underwater tunnels, and protective linings for channels and basins. The construction and curing practices emphasize minimizing early-age cracking and ensuring impermeability during service life.
