valgusmängu

Valgusmängu, also known as valgus game or valgus, is a traditional Estonian board game that has been played for centuries. The game is typically played by two players, although variations for more players exist. The objective of valgusmängu is to capture the opponent's pieces by jumping over them, similar to other jumping games like checkers.

The game is played on a square board, usually made of wood or plastic, with 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid. Each player starts with 12 pieces, which are typically made of wood or plastic and are usually colored differently to distinguish between the two players. The pieces are placed on the dark squares of the board, with each player starting on their respective sides.

The game begins with each player moving one of their pieces diagonally forward to an adjacent dark square. After the initial move, players take turns jumping over their opponent's pieces, landing on an empty dark square. The jumped piece is then removed from the board. Players can make multiple jumps in a single turn, as long as they are legal moves.

The game ends when one player has no more legal moves or all of their opponent's pieces have been captured. The player with the most pieces remaining on the board at the end of the game is declared the winner. Valgusmängu is a popular game in Estonia and is often played during social gatherings and family events.
