The water then freezes, encasing the plant materials in ice, creating delicate and ephemeral decorations.

The practice is rooted in historical customs where natural materials were used for home decoration. Vaateripustuksia allowed for the preservation of these elements through the harsh winter months, bringing a touch of nature indoors. The creation process is relatively simple. Plant materials are gathered, often chosen for their aesthetic appeal and ability to withstand freezing. These are then tied together and lowered into a container of water, which is placed outdoors to freeze. As the water freezes layer by layer, it encapsulates the plant material, forming intricate ice sculptures.
