Ulkoisien refers to a group of fungi that primarily grow on decaying organic matter outside of buildings or structures, as opposed to indoor fungi such as mold. These fungi play a crucial ecological role in breaking down dead plant material, recycling nutrients, and maintaining forest health. Ulkoisien are commonly found on tree bark, fallen leaves, soil, and other natural substrates, contributing to the decomposition process.

Ulkoisien include a wide variety of species, such as mushrooms, toadstools, and bracket fungi. Some are edible and valued in culinary traditions, while others may be toxic or cause allergic reactions.
