Ukomprimerede is a Danish term meaning uncompressed. In computing and digital media, it describes data that has not been compressed from its original form. Uncompressed data is stored and transmitted in a raw or near-raw state, preserving every bit of information but often at the expense of file size.

Common examples occur across audio, video, and images. In audio, PCM formats such as WAV or AIFF store sample values without applying lossy or lossless compression. In video, uncompressed frames are used in professional workflows in formats such as DPX or OpenEXR to maintain maximum fidelity. Still images can be stored uncompressed in formats like BMP, or certain TIFF configurations. Some camera workflows also involve raw image data that is captured with minimal processing, which may be treated as effectively uncompressed by workflow standards.

The primary advantage of ukomprimerede media is fidelity: there are no compression artifacts and editing operations can be applied without prior decompression. This makes it preferable for archival storage, mastering, and high-end production. The main disadvantage is size: uncompressed files require significantly more storage, bandwidth, and processing power, making distribution and real-time streaming impractical in many scenarios.
