Täckfärger, often translated as opaque watercolors or gouache, are water-soluble paints characterized by their opacity and matte finish. Unlike transparent watercolors, which allow light to pass through and interact with the paper's surface, täckfärger contain a higher pigment concentration and an added white pigment, such as chalk or calcium carbonate. This composition creates a dense, light-reflecting quality that allows the colors to cover underlying layers completely.

Täckfärger dry quickly and are generally not rewettable once dry, though some formulations may exhibit slight
