Tudományosság is a quality or condition that denotes the scientific character of inquiry. In practice, tudományosság involves formulating testable hypotheses, collecting reproducible evidence, analyzing data, and subjecting conclusions to critical scrutiny, often through peer review.

In Hungarian usage, tudományosság is used to evaluate claims across disciplines, especially in research, education, and public discourse. It implies consistency with established scientific methods rather than mere appeal to authority. It also encompasses an ethos of openness to revision in light of new evidence and the rejection of unfounded or pseudoscientific assertions.
