Thórr is a prominent god in Norse mythology, associated with thunder, lightning, storms, strength, healing, and the protection of mankind. He is one of the most widely worshipped deities in the Norse pantheon. Thórr is the son of Odin, the Allfather, and Jörð, a giantess representing the Earth. He is a central figure in many Norse myths, often depicted as a fierce warrior battling giants and other monstrous beings.

His most famous weapon is Mjölnir, a powerful hammer that never misses its target and always returns to Thórr's hand after being thrown. Mjölnir also has the power to hallow and bless, making it an important symbol for consecration. Thórr is also known for his strength, often needing to remove his iron gloves, Járngreipr, to fully utilize his immense power. He travels in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, which he can slaughter and eat, only to resurrect them the next day using Mjölnir.

Thórr is often portrayed as a protector of Midgard, the realm of humans, and Asgard, the realm of the gods. He is a champion of order against the forces of chaos. Despite his formidable nature, Thórr is also depicted as having a somewhat less complex personality than Odin, often characterized by directness and a strong sense of justice. His cult was widespread throughout Scandinavia, and his symbol, the hammer, remained popular even after the conversion to Christianity.
