Tanngnjóstr

Tanngnjóstr is a mythical creature from Norse mythology, known as one of the two goats that pull the chariot of the thunder god Thor. Its name translates to "Teeth Grinder" or "Gap-tooth," referring to its prominent tusks. Along with its companion Tanngrisnir, Tanngnjóstr serves as Thor's primary mode of transportation across the skies.

According to Norse lore, these goats possessed remarkable regenerative abilities. Thor would slaughter them each evening for food, preserving their hides and bones. By morning, he could resurrect them using his hammer Mjölnir, though they would always return to life without their bones if any were missing. This cycle highlights the unique relationship between the god and his divine animals.

The goats appear prominently in the myth of Thor's journey to Utgard, where the trickster Loki challenges their capabilities. Tanngnjóstr and Tanngrisnir symbolize strength, sustenance, and the connection between gods and nature in Norse cosmology.
