Thor

Thor is a major figure in Norse mythology, regarded as the god of thunder, storms, and strength. He is the son of Odin and Fjörgyn (also identified as Jord) and a principal protector of Asgard and Midgard. Thor is best known for wielding Mjölnir, a hammer whose blows are said to summon thunder and who is often depicted as returning to its master after being thrown. He also bears Megingjörð, a belt that doubles his strength, and iron gloves to handle the hammer. He travels in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, and he confronts giants and other threats in myths preserved in the traditional Eddas. As a guardian figure, Thor embodies martial strength, courage, and the defense of warriors and common people alike.

In modern popular culture, Thor is a prominent character in Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe,
