Tetire is a small amphibian species that inhabits the tropical lowland and montane forests of Central Africa, primarily in the Bia River basin of Cameroon and nearby regions of Equatorial Guinea. The scientific name of the species has not yet been formally described, and it is commonly referred to by local indigenous communities as "tetire". Morphologically, tetire individuals are characterized by a modest dorsal coloration ranging from olive green to brown, with faint lateral bands. Their snout is relatively pointed, and they possess webbed hind feet, indicative of their semi‑aquatic lifestyle. The species is frequently found near slow‑moving streams, swamps, and dense vegetation that provides both cover and breeding sites.

Reproductive behavior has only been observed in informal field studies, which suggest that tetire lays eggs in shallow water pools. The eggs develop into tadpoles that have been noted to feed on algae and detritus in these aquatic environments. While the species has not been evaluated for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, preliminary assessments indicate that its habitat is under threat from forest clearance and water pollution. Conservation efforts are limited, with most work conducted by local conservation NGOs and universities.
