Terscheckii refers to a specific epithet used in scientific classification, most notably for a species of pine tree. The most prominent example is Pinus terscheckii, commonly known as the Mexican white pine or Montezuma pine. This evergreen coniferous tree is native to the mountains of Mexico and the southwestern United States, specifically in parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as throughout much of Mexico.

Pinus terscheckii is characterized by its tall stature, often reaching heights of 30 to 45 meters (98 to 148 feet), with some specimens growing even larger. It has a straight trunk and a dense, rounded crown. The needles are typically borne in fascicles of three and are a distinctive blue-green color, measuring between 15 and 30 centimeters (6 to 12 inches) in length. The cones are large, often ovoid or conical, and can be quite heavy.

This species is adapted to high-altitude environments, thriving in montane forests where it experiences moderate rainfall and significant temperature fluctuations. It plays an important ecological role in its native habitats, providing food and shelter for various wildlife. Historically, Pinus terscheckii has been used for timber, but its primary significance today is ecological and aesthetic. The name "terscheckii" itself honors Martin Terscheck, a German gardener and botanist who was active in Mexico in the 19th century.
