Teenusetõkestamine, commonly known as Denial-of-Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, is a malicious attempt to disrupt the normal traffic of a targeted server, service, or network by overwhelming it with a flood of internet traffic. The goal is to make the target resource unavailable to its intended users.

DoS attacks are launched from a single source, typically a compromised computer. DDoS attacks, on the other hand, originate from multiple compromised systems, often referred to as a botnet, which are controlled by an attacker.
