sébl is a fictional language created for speculative fiction and worldbuilding. In its canonical lore, it is the native tongue of the coastal and island peoples of the archipelago of Nyren, known as the Sébl. The term sébl is described within internal texts as evolving from a sea-related root, reflecting the community’s maritime culture and trade networks.

Phonology and writing: The language features a compact consonant inventory—/s, b, l, t, k, r/—and a five-vowel system /a, e, i, o, u/ with occasional vowel length indicated by stress or diacritics in inscriptions. A syllabic script, often referred to as the sébl script, represents syllables (CV or V) and is used in religious and ceremonial inscriptions as well as contemporary non-fictional texts within the fiction.

Grammar and syntax: sébl follows a basic subject–verb–object order with adjectives and possessives following the noun. Demonstratives and numerals precede the noun.
