A színkomponens, often translated as color component, refers to one of the individual values that together define a specific color within a color model. Different color models utilize different sets of primary color components. For instance, the RGB color model, commonly used in digital displays, breaks down colors into three components: red, green, and blue. Each of these components is assigned a numerical value, typically ranging from 0 to 255, where 0 represents no intensity of that color and 255 represents full intensity. By combining different intensities of red, green, and blue light, a vast spectrum of colors can be created.

Another widely used color model is CMYK, which is primarily employed in printing. Here, the color components are cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black). These are subtractive colors, meaning they absorb certain wavelengths of light. Mixing these components allows for the creation of a wide range of colors on printed materials. The values for CMYK components are usually expressed as percentages, from 0% to 100%.

Other color models exist, such as HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) and HSV (hue, saturation, value), which describe color in a more intuitive way for humans, focusing on perceived color qualities rather than additive or subtractive primaries. Regardless of the specific color model, the concept of color components remains fundamental to representing and manipulating color digitally and in print.
