Subsystemer is a term sometimes used to denote an agent—person, team, or organization—responsible for a subsystem within a larger system. It is relatively uncommon in formal standards and more often appears in project documentation or industry jargon.

In software engineering and systems engineering, a subsystem refers to a component with a defined function that interacts with other subsystems through interfaces. A subsystemer, in these contexts, is the entity that designs, builds, operates, or maintains that subsystem, including defining interfaces and ensuring reliability and performance.

Responsibilities may include lifecycle management, interface contracts, compliance with requirements, and coordination with other subsystemers. The subsystemer collaborates with systems architects, product owners, and integration engineers to align with overall system goals.

Terminology note: "subsystem owner" or "subsystem team" are more common and can reduce ambiguity. The term "subsystemer" may appear in architectural diagrams or informal documents but is rarely used in formal standards.
