Standardtestids is a convention used in software testing to assign stable, unique identifiers to individual test cases. The goal is to improve traceability across requirements, test plans, automation scripts, and defect tracking by providing a single reference that remains valid even as test titles, locations, or owners change.

Because there is no universal standard, organizations define their own formats for standardtestids. Common patterns include a prefix such as STID or standardtestid, followed by project or domain codes, a test suite identifier, and a sequential or semantic test number (for example, STID-PRJ-UI-Login-01 or STID:PRJ:UI/Login:01). Some schemes embed metadata like environment or risk level within the identifier.

Standardtestids are typically maintained in a central registry or test-management system and are attached to automated tests, manual test cases, requirements, and defects. When a test is executed or a defect is logged, the standard ID is used to link related artifacts, enabling consistent reporting and easier impact analysis across tools.

Benefits include improved traceability, stable references for cross-tool reporting, and streamlined change management. Challenges include ensuring global uniqueness in large portfolios, handling refactors that require ID migration, and achieving broad adoption across teams and tooling.

While standardtestids are widely used in practice, they are not part of an official international standard. They represent an industry best practice for test traceability, often aligned with requirements management, risk assessment, and defect-tracking workflows.
