Sprutfilter is a filtration device used in spray systems to remove solid particles from liquids before they reach spray nozzles. By trapping debris and sediment, it helps protect pumps and nozzles, reduces clogging, and promotes consistent spray quality.

Most sprutfilters consist of a filter element housed in a cylindrical body with an inlet and outlet. Filter media can be a mesh screen, a perforated plate, or a pleated cartridge, made from materials such as stainless steel, brass, or various polymers. The filter rating, often expressed in micrometers, varies by model and application, with finer elements used for precision spraying and coarser elements for general agricultural or industrial spraying. Inline configurations or versions placed on the suction or discharge side of a pump are common.

Applications range from agricultural sprayers for pesticides and fertilizers to industrial painting and coating lines, water mist or fire suppression systems, and various fuel or lubricant circuits in small engines. The device is typically selected based on flow rate, pressure, and the required cleanliness level of the sprayed liquid.

Operation and maintenance involve periodically cleaning or replacing the filter element. Cleaning methods include backflushing or disassembling the housing, depending on the design. Operators monitor differential pressure across the filter and replace elements when the pressure drop becomes excessive or when spray performance declines.
