Sprint Demonstration, also known as a sprint demo, is a formal presentation at the end of a sprint in Agile software development to show the increment of product functionality completed during the sprint to stakeholders. In Scrum, this activity is typically part of the Sprint Review, though some teams refer to it as a standalone demonstration.

Purpose of a sprint demonstration is to obtain stakeholder feedback, validate that the sprint goal was met, ensure transparency about progress, and inform backlog refinement and future planning. The demonstration focuses on working software that meets the Definition of Done and acceptance criteria rather than a project status report.

Participants usually include the development team, the Product Owner, the Scrum Master or Agile coach, and invited stakeholders such as customers, users, and managers. The team demonstrates completed items, describes how they meet acceptance criteria, and provides context for the new functionality.

The process is timeboxed and typically lasts 30-60 minutes for a one-month sprint, with additional time for questions. It emphasizes live demonstrations of working features over slides. The environment should reflect a potentially shippable increment, and the presentation should be contiguous with the sprint’s goals and DoD.

Outcomes of the sprint demonstration include feedback used to update the product backlog, clarify requirements, and adjust priorities. It can lead to formal acceptance of items or indicate work to be revisited in future sprints.

Relation to Sprint Review: in Scrum, the official event is the Sprint Review; the demonstration is its core element. The term sprint demonstration may be used interchangeably, but it is not a distinct Scrum event. Variations exist across frameworks, but the practice consistently aims at transparency and stakeholder alignment.
