Demo, short for demonstration, is a term with several related meanings. In general use, a demonstration is an act or event designed to show how something works, or a public gathering to express support or dissent. In everyday language, "demo" is a common shorthand for both senses: a product demonstration that reveals features, and a political or social demonstration, such as a street protest.

In technology and commerce, a demo most often refers to a demonstration version of a product, especially software or video games. A demo allows potential customers to try the product before buying. Demos are usually limited by time, by access to features, or by content, and may be distributed online, on physical media, or at events.

In music and film, a demo can mean an early or rough recording used to illustrate ideas for producers or labels, or a demo reel showcasing a performer’s sample work.
