Historical records indicate that Sitomiskyvyt was established in the early 18th century as a small fishing village. During the 19th century, the village experienced modest growth due to the expansion of fur trading routes. In the Soviet era, a collective farm focused on polyculture agriculture was founded in the area, fostering gradual population increase. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the collective farm was disbanded and the land was returned to private ownership, though many residents continue to engage in subsistence farming and hunting.
