Ventralist

Ventralist is a term used in comparative anatomy to describe a positional orientation. It refers to a structure or organism that is located on or towards the ventral side. The ventral side is generally understood as the underside or belly of an animal. This contrasts with the dorsal side, which is the upper or back side. For instance, in many bilaterally symmetrical animals, the ventral surface is the one that typically faces the ground during locomotion.
