The term combines shiire, the Japanese word for procurement, with id, signaling its role as an identity credential for suppliers, buyers, and intermediaries. The core aim is to provide a stable, interoperable identity token that can be used across multiple procurement platforms, including enterprise resource planning systems, e-invoicing networks, and supplier portals.

Technically, siireteid relies on a lightweight public-key infrastructure. Each entity obtains a credential from a trusted issuer in a governance network, such as a certification authority or procurement regulator. The credential attests to attributes like entity_id, legal_name, role (supplier, buyer, broker), jurisdiction, and validity period. Tokens can be presented as compact verifiable credentials or embedded in standard data formats such as JWT-based statements. A central or federated registry maintains a list of trusted issuers and revocation status to support real-time verification.

In deployment, siireteid is typically governed by an industry consortium or standards body that designs the data model, security requirements, and interoperability guidelines.
