Select2Unselect is a user interface pattern or interaction technique commonly found in web applications and software. It typically refers to the process of selecting an item from a list or a collection, and then subsequently deselecting or unselecting it. This action is fundamental to many user interactions, allowing users to modify their choices or clear selections.

The "select" part of the pattern involves the user indicating a desire to choose a particular item. This is often achieved by clicking on the item, tapping it on a touchscreen, or using keyboard navigation followed by a confirmation key. Once selected, the item usually undergoes a visual change to indicate its active state, such as a highlight, a checkmark, or a different background color.

The "unselect" or "deselect" action reverses the selection process. The user needs a way to indicate that they no longer wish to have the item chosen. This can be accomplished by clicking on the already selected item again, clicking an "X" or "clear" button associated with the selection, or sometimes by selecting another item which implicitly deselects the previously chosen one, depending on the interface design. The visual indication of the item's active state is then removed, returning it to its default appearance. This pattern is crucial for user control and error correction within interactive interfaces.
