Key activities include selecting seed sources; cleaning and treating seeds; validating germination rates and vigor; determining moisture content; applying packaging and labeling that records lot numbers, lot size, and expiry dates; and maintaining traceability throughout the supply chain.

Storage and logistics emphasize environmental controls (temperature, humidity), pest management, and rotation to minimize aging and deterioration. Seed certification and standard testing, often guided by bodies such as the ISTA, help ensure varietal purity and seed health.

Digital tools support SeedManagement through inventory management, barcoding or RFID, and database records for stock levels, lot history, and compliance documents.

Stakeholders include seed producers, distributors, farmers, research institutions, seed banks, policymakers, and regulatory agencies. Effective SeedManagement reduces risk of poor field emergence, protects genetic diversity, and supports food security.
