Schroefflatten is a term used in woodworking and metalworking to describe flat metal plates that contain holes for screws. These plates are designed to reinforce joints, distribute screw-bearing loads, and prevent local material failure such as splitting in wood or crushing in thin metal.

The term is derived from German and Dutch roots related to screws (schrauben, schroef) and flat or plate form. In English, similar items are commonly called screw plates, reinforcement plates, or gusset/ splice plates, depending on their shape and application.

Common forms include corner plates, splice plates, and general purpose reinforcement plates. Schroefflatten are used in furniture making, cabinetry, framing, and light structural work where joints need additional strength without large-scale construction. They are manufactured from steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, with thicknesses typically ranging from thin sheets to a few millimeters.
