A schakasysteem, often translated as a "shackle system" or "block and tackle," is a mechanical device used to gain mechanical advantage. It consists of one or more pulleys (wheels with grooves) and a rope or cable that threads through them. By arranging the pulleys and rope in a specific configuration, the system allows a user to lift or move heavy objects with significantly less force than would otherwise be required. The amount of mechanical advantage gained is determined by the number of rope segments supporting the load. More rope segments directly supporting the load mean a greater reduction in the required effort.
