Rådmannen is the chief administrative officer of a Norwegian municipality. The term designates the top civil servant who heads the municipal administration and is responsible for carrying out the council’s decisions and for the day-to-day management of the municipality’s operations. The position exists in most Norwegian municipalities, though some use the title kommunedirektør (municipal director) instead of rådmann while performing the same function.
