regidora
A regidora is a female member of a municipal council, a term used primarily in Spanish-speaking countries. The word derives from Spanish, where “regidor” refers to a councilor, and the feminine form indicates a woman occupying that office. In many Latin American jurisdictions, the position is equivalent to a city councilor elected by local voters. In Spain, the title has historically been used for women who gained the right to serve on town boards after reforms in the late 20th century.
