Refleksitakykardiana refers to a type of supraventricular tachycardia, a condition characterized by a rapid heart rate originating in the atria or atrioventricular node. This specific term highlights the reflex-mediated nature of the arrhythmia. It is often triggered by a vasovagal or autonomic nervous system response, such as that experienced during emotional stress, pain, or during or after exercise. The underlying mechanism involves increased sympathetic nervous system activity or a decrease in parasympathetic tone, leading to an accelerated heart rate that is not a normal physiological response. Symptoms can include palpitations, dizziness, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and in some cases, syncope or fainting. Diagnosis typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG) to record the heart rhythm during an episode.
