Pölyttäjästä, commonly known as a pollinator, is an animal that facilitates pollination. Bats often pollinate night-blooming flowers, while rodents might contribute to the pollination of ground-dwelling plants.

The relationship between pollinators and the plants they serve is a prime example of mutualism, a type of symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit. Plants provide pollinators with food resources like nectar and pollen, while pollinators ensure the reproductive success of the plants. This intricate ecological interaction is vital for the health of ecosystems and agricultural productivity, as many of the foods humans consume rely on the services of pollinators.
