Psykoanalytiensa refers to the study of psychoanalysis in Finnish culture and history. Psychoanalysis is a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. The psychoanalyst seeks to uncover the unconscious motivations and conflicts that underlie a patient's behavior and emotions, with the goal of promoting emotional healing and personal growth.

The concept of psychoanalysis was first introduced to Finland in the early 20th century by Sigmund Freud, a German-born Austrian neurologist. Freud's ideas on the unconscious mind and the role of childhood experiences in shaping adult behavior influenced a number of Finnish intellectuals and clinicians. Among these was a physician named Lauri Ingman, who became interested in psychoanalysis in the 1920s and established a psychoanalytic school in Helsinki in the 1930s.

Ingman's school offered training in psychoanalysis for Finnish mental health professionals, and it attracted a number of prominent students, including Vilho Niittyla, who would go on to found the first Finnish psychoanalytic society in the 1940s. Despite initial resistance to psychoanalytic ideas in some quarters, the field gradually gained acceptance in Finland and began to influence the development of psychology and psychiatry in the country.

Today, psychoanalysis remains a respected and influential approach to mental health treatment in Finland. The Finnish Psychoanalytic Society, founded by Niittyla in the 1940s, continues to promote and advance psychoanalytic knowledge and practice in the country. Many Finnish clinicians and researchers have made important contributions to the broader field of psychoanalysis, and the country remains an active participant in international psychoanalytic networks and organizations.
