Probefittings, or probe fittings, are components that connect, mount, or seal measurement probes to equipment, test rigs, or process lines. They serve to hold probes in the correct position, provide reliable mechanical support, ensure proper electrical contact where needed, and protect the probe from environmental conditions such as temperature, pressure, or chemicals.

Common forms include threaded probe fittings, which use standard thread forms such as NPT, BSP, or metric sizes to attach to ports on instruments, vessels, or fixtures. Many threaded fittings incorporate O-rings or ferrules to provide leak-tight seals. Compression fittings use a ferrule and compression ring to secure a probe in a tube or pipe. Thermowell and thermocouple fittings provide a protective sleeve or adapter that allows temperature sensors to measure without penetrating the process directly.

Electrical probe fittings and adapters enable connecting probes to test equipment or circuit boards, with shielding and insulation to reduce electrical noise. Vacuum and high-pressure probe fittings are designed to withstand specific pressure differentials and may use standards such as KF, CF, or other industry fittings, depending on the system.

Materials commonly used include stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum, and high-performance polymers such as PTFE or PEEK, chosen for corrosion resistance, temperature ratings, and chemical compatibility. Design considerations include compatibility of thread size and seating surfaces, thermal and electrical properties, environmental ratings (vacuum, pressure, moisture), ease of assembly, and ease of cleaning or sterilization in clinical or laboratory settings.

Applications span laboratory measurement, process control and instrumentation, automotive and aerospace testing, and vacuum systems, where reliable probe attachment and sealing are essential.
