Privécloud, also known as private cloud, is a cloud computing environment dedicated to a single organization. It may be deployed on premises or in a private data center by a third-party provider, and is managed by the organization or the provider. Resources such as compute, storage and networking are not shared with others, enabling greater control over data, security and compliance.

Key features include virtualization, software-defined networking and storage, and automation through cloud management platforms. Private clouds offer elasticity and scalable capacity similar to public clouds, but within a controlled boundary, allowing customized security policies, access controls and governance. They are often built on platforms such as OpenStack, VMware vSphere/vCloud, Microsoft Azure Stack, or vendor solutions from Oracle or IBM.

Deployment options range from fully on-premises to hosted private cloud in a dedicated facility. Organizations use private clouds to meet regulatory requirements, protect sensitive data, or achieve predictable performance, while still enabling cloud-native workloads and automation. Hybrid configurations combine a private cloud with public cloud resources to handle variable demand and disaster recovery.

Considerations include total cost of ownership, ongoing management requirements, and the need for skilled personnel. Security typically emphasizes identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation and compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS or HIPAA. Private clouds are contrasted with public clouds and community clouds, and are commonly used as a core element of hybrid cloud strategies.
