Preprogram refers to the act of configuring a device, software, or system with a predetermined set of instructions before use, so that operation can proceed automatically, predictably, or with predefined options. The term combines the prefix pre- with program and is used across computing, manufacturing, and consumer electronics. In many contexts, preprogramming means loading default settings, templates, or routines into a system prior to deployment, as opposed to generating or modifying behavior during runtime.

In software, preprogramming is common in installers and applications that ship with initial configurations, preselected options, or scripted workflows.
