A precipitatorn, more commonly known as an electrostatic precipitator (ESP), is a device that removes fine particles from a gas stream. It is a type of filter that uses an electrostatic charge to remove these particles. The gas is passed through a chamber where it is exposed to a high-voltage electrical field. This field imparts a charge to the particles in the gas. The charged particles are then attracted to oppositely charged collection plates, where they accumulate. Periodically, the collection plates are vibrated or washed, causing the collected particles to fall into a hopper, from which they are removed.
