Planteevne is a term used in Nordic languages to describe the intrinsic capacity or potential of a plant to perform growth, reproduction and survival under given conditions. The word combines plante (plant) and evne (ability).

In practice, planteevne refers to the suite of traits that determine how well a plant can exploit resources, tolerate stress and produce offspring, including growth rate, photosynthetic efficiency, root system architecture, nutrient use efficiency, disease and drought tolerance, and reproductive fitness. Planteevne arises from genetic makeup and environmental interactions; it is not a fixed trait but a performance potential that manifests in response to light, water, soil fertility, temperature and biotic factors.

In plant breeding and agronomy, improving planteevne means increasing vigor, resilience and yield while maintaining quality. Breeders assess planteevne through phenotyping and selection for measurable indicators such as biomass, leaf area, chlorophyll content, stem strength, root depth and grain or fruit yield under representative conditions.
