plandeki

Plandeki (singular plandeka) are large, flexible protective covers used to shield items from rain, sun, dust and dirt. They are widely used in construction, transportation, agriculture and outdoor activities, as well as for temporary weather protection in homes and events. Tarpaulins come in a range of materials and constructions to suit different conditions, climates and budgets.

Common materials include polyethylene (PE) films, which may be laminated or woven, and PVC-coated fabrics; traditional canvas tarps are still used in some contexts. Thickness and durability are usually described by weight measurements such as grams per square meter (GSM) or mils in thickness. Tarps may be waterproof or water-resistant, and many include UV stabilizers to extend outdoor life. They often feature reinforced corners and metal or plastic grommets at regular intervals to allow secure tying or fastening. Some plandeki are perforated or mesh to allow air flow, while others are solid for maximum protection. Color and coatings can indicate purpose or compatibility with machinery, vehicles, or food handling.

Care and maintenance: Keep plandeki clean and dry when not in use. Wipe off dirt with mild soap and water; avoid sharp objects that can tear the material. Dry thoroughly before folding and storing in a cool, dry place to prevent mold or mildew. Repair kits and patches are available for minor tears, and damaged tarps are often replaced.
