Patiëntshouding refers to the specific position in which a patient is placed during a medical examination, procedure, or treatment. Common patient positions include the supine position, where the patient lies flat on their back with their face upward. The semi-Fowler's position is an upright posture where the patient is reclined at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees. The high-Fowler's position is even more upright, at 60 to 90 degrees, providing maximum respiratory ease.

The lithotomy position, with the patient lying on their back with knees and hips bent and legs supported, is typically used for gynecological examinations, childbirth, and urological procedures.
