Paritetty is a term used in theoretical contexts to denote a parity-like invariant associated with a combinatorial or algebraic object under a symmetry operation. The concept is not tied to a single universal definition; instead, the precise construction of paritetty depends on the object and the symmetry chosen. In broad terms, a paritetty value is designed to reveal whether the object's structure is preserved, flipped, or otherwise transformed by the symmetry, often taking values in {+1, -1}.

Formally, let X be an object with an involutive symmetry s: X → X satisfying s² = identity. The paritetty P_s(X) is a multiplicative invariant assigning +1 or -1 to X according to a parity rule derived from s and the combinatorial or algebraic data of X. In many settings, P_s is invariant under isomorphisms that respect the symmetry and is multiplicative under disjoint unions or direct products. The exact rule for computing P_s(X) varies with the category of objects considered, such as graphs, tilings, or sequences.
